Who I am
I am Helena Tercero-Stadthagen, Nicaraguan, married, with two daughters. No. 1 fan of family meals and desserts. Practicality and organization define me.
Shortly after my husband emigrated to the United States from Chile, where we lived, for work reasons, and with two small girls, ages 2 and 3, we were faced with a new country, new customs, and a new reality.
We didn't know anyone in Florida and I had to find ways to socialize (I love to party) at that time I had the idea of doing birthdays inviting all of my daughters' classmates.
And from the party came the great opportunity, I prepared all the food for the parties and the mothers had doubts about whether I could cook for them (they didn't like to do it and they didn't have time).
Shortly after, we traveled to Nicaragua for a month on vacation and when I returned, I had to do some shopping for the house (Eureka, I have it). At that moment, I decided to get started and I haven't stopped since.
It all started out as “Comida saca de apuros” (But I wasn't sure) so my new Venezuelan friends were key in giving me the idea of calling it like we do in Nicaragua by putting “la” before the name, now it was “la helena” and that's how Lalena's Food was born.
Believe in your dream and go for it… Don’t worry about cooking, I’ll do it for you, so you have more time for what matters most.
